This bill requires companies to protect consumer data, and limits the commercial use of facial recognition.
In the bill are provision for the following new rights provided residents of Washington State:
- Transparency - The right to know what data a company has collected about you
- Correction - The right to correct inaccurate data about you
- Export - The right to obtain a copy of your information
- Deletion - The right to require a company delete your information from its systems
Further, with respect to facial recognition, the law would require use to be equally accurate when used by people, regardless of their race, skin tone, ethnicity, gender, or age
